Disney announced a new fireworks cruise/dessert party option today: the Ferrytale Wishes Dessert and Fireworks Cruise.
This is the latest in a line of special dessert parties and fireworks cruises Walt Disney World offers its guests and this one aims to combine the best of both elements, according to the Disney Parks Blog post announcing the new special event.
A Walt Disney World ferryboat will launch from the Ticket and Transportation Center about one hour before the fireworks begins. During this time, a limited number of guests can enjoy a dessert table filled with treats from resorts around the Magic Kingdom, including Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (pineapple upside down cake), Disney’s Contemporary Resort (spiced flourless chocolate cake) and other sweet and savory treats. Guests will also be able to have a special toast with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in souvenir glow glasses.
Immediately following the dessert party, ferry riders will get a unique viewpoint of the Wishes Fireworks Spectacular (or HalloWishes/Holiday Wishes during scheduled Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party). The show music and narration are broadcast directly onto the boat, so party guests won’t miss any part of the show.
The cost for cruise tickets is $99 for adults and $69 for guests ages 3 to 9, including tax and gratuity. For reservations, visit DisneyWorld.com/DINE or call (407) WDW-DINE/(407) 939-3463. Sailings begin on October 5th and are scheduled to continue on select days through early December.
What does ETM think?
It seems like Walt Disney World manages to find a way to create a special ticket event or party just about anywhere these days. And, each one seems to be getting more expensive.
I love the idea of this: a great view of Wishes, some nice desserts, no major crowds. Very tempting. I don’t know if Disney is jacking up the prices on these new experiences with the hopes of making a decent profit while limiting the number of people who take advantage of the opportunity. Every time someone thinks Disney has priced itself out of plausibility, the general public continues to prove critics wrong.
$100+ admission tickets! No one will go! (Crowds continue to stay strong)
New Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party at the Magic Kingdom costs nearly twice as much as its predecessor. No one will pay it! (Yet, reservations are still hard to secure for the event.)
I’m pretty sure this latest edition will prove to be popular. However, as I’ve said before I have to wonder if Disney is diminishing the importance and grandeur of these events by piling on more and making them more expensive.
As for me and my family, the price tag is steep. For the four of us, it would be nearly $400 just for this experience. That $400 would go a long way on another part of our Walt Disney World vacation.
That being said, if I had the means and opportunity, I would probably grab up a chance as soon as I could.
Has Disney priced you out of this experience? How much is too much? Tell us!
